The Church By the Side of the Road
The First Baptist Church of Kingsville has been known as "The Church by the Side of the Road" since 1938. Early in the year of 1938, and lasting for one year, the church broadcasted over W.I.C.A. (now W.R.E.O.). It was a thirty minute miniature church service. The Theme song was " The Church by the Side of the Road", and thus, the church is called by that name and a sign hangs in the front by the ramp entrance.

The Church Continues To Grow
In May of 1958, the people of the church held a brief groundbreaking ceremony for the addition of the new Christian Education Building. This was a small addition added to the south side of the church. When adding the new addition to the church, the sanctuary was extended, a new baptistry made, and the pulpit and choir loft were moved from the side to the back. The new addition was completed and dedicated in May of 1962.
Remodel of 1979
In May of 1979, there was a large remodel that took place to keep up with the growing needs of the church family as it continued to grow. while the remodeling and demolition of the church took place, the congregation met for Sunday worship services in the Kingsville Orion Masonic Temple across the street from the church. In August of 1980, the first services in the newly remodeled facilities took place. One of the biggest changes made from the remodel included increasing the size of the sanctuary. At this time, the direction of the seating was changed making the beautiful stained glass window in the front of the church the backdrop for every service. The church narthex was added to the back of the church and the fellowship hall extended.
The classrooms and new offices on the south side of the building were added.
A Welcomed New Addition
In November of 2002 the newest addition to our church was dedicated. The new addition includes a large welcome center added to the back of the church, which is now used as the main entrance of the church. An elevator was also added to allow the church to be accessible to all that want to come and worship. The members of the First Baptist Church of Kingsville have wanted to add an elevator for access to the church for years and are very pleased to see this latest addition added.
God Holds Tomorrow in His Hands...
The First Baptist Church of Kingsville has experienced the out pouring of God's Blessing for nearly 200 years. The Church gives God all the praise and glory for all that has been accomplished through the years. Many people from the congregation have gone on to bless other churches and communities as well as the community of Kingsville. The First Baptist Church will continue to be a strong part of the future of the community of Kingsville through its ministry to the Lord and its many outreaches within the community.
