1825-February 1909The
First Baptist Church of Kingsville was founded December 25, 1813
by 11 members in the Kingsville school house. The first church
was built in 1825 and the chapel was added in 1894. The original
church was destroyed by fire February 7, 1909 and few things
could be salvaged from the damage. The only things that could be
salvaged were two organs two large Bibles, pulpit and pulpit
chairs, all the small chairs, all the cushions, and part of the
seats were saved. The pulpit, the two pulpit chairs and one of
the bench seats are still a cherished part of our church today.

Fire
The process of building
another church was started immediately. During the building of
the church, preaching services were held at 1:30 with Sunday
School following in the Presbyterian Church. Prayer meetings
were held in different homes. In 1910 the new brick church was
completed at the cost of $7500. February 7, 1911 just two years
after the fire, the new church was dedicated without debt.
Although the church has gone through several additions and
changes to the church building it is where we still meet to
worship today.
